Sioen has been awarded the European public tender issued by the Dutch police for the production and supply of its new ballistic and stab-resistant body armour with MOLLE carrying system (KSWV), including the associated expansion module (OM).
This contract award represents an important recognition of Sioen's expertise in ballistic protection, technical textile solutions and user-centred product development. The framework agreement offers the prospect of a long-term partnership with the Dutch police and may run for up to 15 years. The potential contract value exceeds EUR 150 million. The first deliveries are expected to commence from 2027 onwards.
Sioen's solution was selected based on its strong combination of protection, wearer comfort, ease of use and professional appearance. The new body armour has been developed to optimally support police officers in their daily duties, with particular attention to ergonomics, modularity and functionality across a wide range of operational environments.
"We are extremely proud that Sioen has won this tender for the Dutch police and will now become its partner for this strategically important project following a European public procurement procedure. This contract award confirms the confidence placed in our technical expertise, our manufacturing capabilities and our continuous focus on the end user. Together with the Dutch police, we look forward to delivering a comfortable, reliable and future-proof protective solution that will support police officers in carrying out their duties every day," said Bart Vervaecke, CEO of Sioen Apparel.
With this contract award, Sioen further strengthens its position as a leading European partner in high-performance protective clothing and ballistic solutions for police, public safety and defence organisations. The company looks forward to working closely with the Dutch police on the successful implementation of the new body armour programme.
